EMPHASIS: Results Of Selective Traffic Enforcement Operation Conducted By Troop B Officers On July 31, 2009
Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a Selective Traffic Enforcement Operation conducted by Troop B officers on July 31, 2009.
From 7 p.m. on July 31, 2009, to 3 a.m. on August 1, 2009, two Troop B officers focused their attention on highways located in Marion and Ralls counties, with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes. During the eight-hour enforcement operation, officers issued nine citations and 47 warnings. Of those enforcement contacts, three citations were issued for speed, three citations were issued for seat belt violations, two citations were issued for child restraint violations, and one citation was issued for a commercial motor vehicle violation.
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol is committed to reducing traffic crashes and saving lives,” stated Captain Elliott. “Motorists can help this effort by taking the job of driving seriously, abiding by the speed limit, wearing a seat belt, and never driving after consuming alcohol.”
