EMPHASIS: July Enforcement Projects Scheduled For Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces that sometime during the month of July, Troop D officers will conduct two sobriety checkpoints and two driving while intoxicated saturations. The sobriety checkpoints will be held in McDonald and Webster counties; the saturations will be conducted in Dallas and Taney counties. Additionally, officers will participate in an enforcement saturation on a waterway in Dallas County.

During the July 4th holiday, Troop D officers will once again be participating in special enforcement operations with the objective of reducing traffic crashes and to promote safety. Throughout the holiday period, troopers within Troop D and throughout the state will be participating in the statewide 20-Mile Trooper project during the peak travel periods on Tuesday, July 3, and on Sunday, July 8, 2012. During this operation, troopers will be assigned to 20-mile stretches of Interstate 44, and on selected secondary roads. The objective of the project is to place a trooper in close proximity of motorists who may need assistance and to aggressively enforce all traffic violations which may contribute to unsafe traveling conditions.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol urges all citizens to report any vehicle they observe operating in a careless manner. The public can contact the Highway Patrol toll-free at 1-800-525-5555 or on their cellular phone at *55.
