EMPHASIS: Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. Results For St. Louis & St. Charles Counties



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of the Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. project that was conducted on Thursday, April 10, 2014, on Interstate 64 near the Boone Bridge in St. Louis and St. Charles counties. During the eight-hour project, seven troopers focused their attention on violations that occurred within these construction/work zones. The following is a breakdown of the enforcement contacts:

Speed -- 20 summonses
Seat Belt --7 summonses
Non-Moving Violations -- 13 summonses
Followed Too Close -- 1 summons
Careless & Imprudent Driving -- 1 summons
No Driver’s License/Suspended/Revoked -- 2 summonses
Uninsured Motorists -- 6 summonses
Misdemeanor Criminal Offenses -- 2 arrests
Misdemeanor Drug Possession -- 4 arrests
Felony Drug Possession -- 2 arrests
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests -- 2 arrests
Felony Warrant Arrests -- 1 arrest
Warnings -- 51
Total Vehicles Stopped -- 76

Captain Johnson stated, “This was an extremely productive enforcement project, and because of the results it is apparent that there continues to be a need for these types of operations. We strongly encourage all motorists to focus their attention on the job of driving safely through our many construction zones.”

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
