EMPHASIS: Troop C Assigns Seven New Troopers


Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, is pleased to announce seven new troopers are assigned to the Troop C, Weldon Spring, area. The new troopers were members of the Patrol’s 98th Recruit Class, which graduated on June 27, 2014. The troopers completed 26 weeks of highly intense training at the Patrol’s Law Enforcement Academy in Jefferson City, Missouri. The new troopers report to their assignment on Monday, July 14, 2014. They will be working with a field-training officer for approximately three months before working independently. The new troopers assigned to Troop C and their assignments are as follows:

Trooper Logan M. Bolton, 23, a native of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, is assigned to Zone 13, serving Jefferson County. Trooper Bolton is a graduate of Salem Community High School, and attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Bolton worked as a substitute teacher for the Regional Office of Education in Salem, Illinois.

Trooper Jeffrey J. Burnett, 30, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is assigned to Zone 8, serving St. Charles County. Trooper Burnett is a graduate of Albany High School in Albany, Missouri. Trooper Burnett attended Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada, and the University of Nevada-Reno. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Burnett served eight years in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller and worked as a bartender for Baldinis Casino in Sparks, Nevada. He and his wife, Laura (Avila), have three children: Layla, 7, Vance, 3, and Victoria, 2.

Trooper Mark A. Frigy, 29, a native of Decatur, Illinois, is assigned to Zone 10, serving Franklin County. Trooper Frigy is a graduate of MacArthur High School in Decatur, Illinois. Trooper Frigy attended the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois, and Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Frigy worked as a farm hand for Brown and Brown Farms in Decatur, Illinois.

Trooper Nicholas W. March, 28, a native of Columbia, Missouri, is assigned to Zone 16, serving Ste. Genevieve and Perry counties. Trooper March is a graduate of Macon High School in Macon, Missouri. Trooper March attended Moberly Area Community College in Moberly, Missouri, and the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper March worked as a database administrator for the University of Missouri. He is married to Jenna (Maschmann).

Trooper Jose Sanchez Jr., 25, a native of Phoenix, Arizona, was assigned to Zone 2, St. Louis and St. Charles counties. Trooper Sanchez is a graduate of Independence High School in Glendale, Arizona, and attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Sanchez was a combat engineer with the Missouri Army National Guard and continues to serve as a training tech. Trooper Sanchez is engaged to Ms. Jennifer Vasquez.

Trooper Keith D. Scruggs, 24, a native of Creve Coeur, Missouri, was assigned to Zone 3, St. Louis and Jefferson counties. Trooper Scruggs is a graduate of Lutheran High School North in St. Louis, Missouri, and attended Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.

Trooper Alex J. Shibley, 37, a native of Farmington, Missouri, was assigned to Zone 14, serving St. Francois and Washington counties. Trooper Shibley is a graduate of North County High School in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Prior to joining the Highway Patrol, Trooper Shibley was a police officer for the Cottleville (Missouri) Police Department. Trooper Shibley and his wife, Brandi (Akins), have two children: Addyson, 7, and Reece, 2.
