EMPHASIS: Troop C Announces Results Of "Operation A.R.R.E.S.T." In St. Louis County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail “Operation A.R.R.E.S.T.” (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2012, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2012, in St. Louis County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. During the operation, a total of 46 arrests were made along with 36 warnings. Five subjects were arrested for driving while intoxicated, seven subjects were arrested for following too close, three subjects were arrested for no seat belt, 12 subjects were arrested for speed, five subjects were arrested for failing to stop at a stop sign, and nine non-moving summonses were issued. Three misdemeanor drug arrests and two felony drug arrests were made during the operation.

Captain Johnson stated, “Alcohol continues to be responsible for approximately 30 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
