EMPHASIS: 25 pound Marijuana Seizure By Highway Patrol
On Sunday, January 6, 2008, an officer of the Missouri State Highway Patrol initiated a traffic stop on Interstate 44 in Franklin County. The eastbound 2007 Ford Fusion was stopped for careless and imprudent driving. Upon contact with the driver, the odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. After speaking with the driver a request to search the vehicle was denied. A Highway Patrol K9 unit responded to the scene, and the K9 alerted to the trunk area of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the 25 pounds of marijuana concealed in a Christmas present in the trunk.
The driver, David G. Saint-Fleur, 27, of Worcester, Massachusetts, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, and transported to the Franklin County Jail.
The charge for which the above subject is accused is a mere accusation and not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence
