EMPHASIS: Results Of Troop E DWI Saturation

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the results of a DWI saturation conducted in Troop E, beginning at 11 p.m. on March 15, 2014, and ending at 3 a.m. on March 16, 2014. During the operation a total of 67 vehicles were stopped. As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 24 arrests were made and 36 warnings were issued. Of the 24 arrests, three subjects were arrested for driving while intoxicated, five for exceeding the posted speed, 15 for no seat belt, two for hazardous moving violations, one for a non-moving violation, and seven for no driver's license. One individual was arrested for misdemeanor possession of drugs.

Captain Ridens said, "The DWI saturations are very important in making our highways a safer place to travel. The impaired driver continues to be a major contributor to serious traffic crashes in Southeast Missouri. The DWI saturations are a part of the Patrol's effort to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways. The troopers in the Troop E area will continue to pursue this goal."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
