EMPHASIS: 2008 Troop B Area Thanksgiving Holiday Enforcement And Traffic Crash Totals


Captain John W. Elliott, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the 2008 Thanksgiving Holiday traffic crash and enforcement totals for the Troop B area, which consists of the 16 northeast counties of Missouri.
During the 2008 Thanksgiving weekend traffic crash counting period, which began on Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., and ended on Sunday, November 30, 2008, at 11:59 p.m., Troop B officers investigated 30 traffic crashes, in which seven people were injured. Preliminary enforcement totals show Troop B officers made 12 arrests for driving while intoxicated, issued 327 speeding summonses and 44 seat belt summonses, and assisted 83 motorists.
“The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes holiday weekends very seriously,” stated Captain Elliott. “Taking the job of driving seriously, and remembering to buckle up will help reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities.”
