EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of Truck Enforcment Operation
Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a special enforcement operation that emphasized motor vehicle code compliance by the operators of commercial motor vehicles. This particular project utilized three troopers who patrolled Phelps County highways on September 10, 2009.
During the four-hour operation troopers stopped 26 commercial motor vehicles and seven other vehicles, which resulted in 51 warnings being issued. The troopers assigned to the project also issued two citations for speed, one citation for failure to wear a seat belt, four citations for commercial vehicle violations, and three citations for non-moving traffic offenses.
Captain Kenley stated, “Our mission is to make our highways safer, which cannot be accomplished solely through traffic arrests. In order to meet this goal it is vital that every motorist take it upon themselves to be a safe, courteous, and conscientious driver.”
