EMPHASIS: DWI Saturation Results

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C in St. Louis, announces the results of a Driving While Intoxicated Saturation conducted on April 12, 2008, in St. Louis County. Six Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers, in north St. Louis County, conducted the enforcement operation. During the six-hour enforcement project, the officers focused their attention on detecting and arresting intoxicated drivers, in an effort to reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes.
As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 68 arrests were made and 39 warnings were issued. Of those arrests, three individuals were arrested for felony driving while intoxicated and seven individuals were issued summons for driver’s license violations. Officers also issued 23 speeding summons, 13 seat belt summons, and 17 non-moving violation summonses.
Captain Johnson stated, “Several of the fatalities on Missouri’s roadways are at the hand of an intoxicated driver. Removing intoxicated drivers is a primary concern of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and we take that seriously. Please remember to always drive safe, wear your seat belt and designate a sober driver.”
