EMPHASIS: Video Available of Patrol Helicopter Team Rescue From Rising Flood Waters

Colonel Ron Replogle, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, would like to inform the media and the public of the following:

Video taken during yesterday's helicopter team rescue of turkey hunters trapped by flood waters is available online. The rescue occurred near Boiling Springs, MO, in Texas County. The Patrol's short haul rescue program calls for a trooper to place an evacuee in a harness. The helicopter then lifts the trooper and evacuee and transports them to a safe location. The rescue line is approximately 100 feet long. The first video was taken using a trooper's cell phone and shows the helicopter safely delivering a trooper and one of the rescued hunters to dry land. The second video is from a helmet camera worn by the trooper on the rescue line. The video shows the rescue of the first turkey hunter from the point he and the trooper are lifted out of the flood zone until they are delivered to a safe location.
