EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Jefferson County On March 16, 2013



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted on Saturday evening, March 16, 2013. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, to 3 a.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013, and was located at Missouri Route MM, near Buckeye Valley Road. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 279 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following enforcement contacts:

2 -- DWI arrests
3 -- uninsured motorist summonses
2 -- non-moving summonses
1 -- warrant arrest
34 -- warnings issued

Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
