EMPHASIS: Troop B Officers To Conduct DWI Sobriety Checkpoint And DWI Saturation

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces that sometime during the month of August 2015, Troop B officers will be conducting a DWI sobriety checkpoint and a DWI saturation. The sobriety checkpoint will be conducted by the Patrol in cooperation with area law enforcement agencies in Marion County. The DWI saturation will be conducted in Macon County.
“Special enforcement operations enable the Patrol to enhance our efforts in removing the impaired driver from our roadways,” stated Captain Wilt. “Driving while intoxicated continues to be a major contributing factor of traffic crashes in Missouri.”
The Patrol urges all citizens to help law enforcement efforts to apprehend impaired drivers. If you suspect a motorist of driving while impaired or observe a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner, contact the nearest law enforcement agency. The Highway Patrol toll-free numbers for reporting emergencies are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55.
Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal traffic crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
