EMPHASIS: Results Of A Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation In Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, is pleased to announce the results of a recent MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement operation. The purpose of this effort was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.

This enforcement program was conducted June 4-7, and June 13-14, 2012, and primarily focused on the high-crash counties in Troop D including: Greene, Lawrence, Newton, and Jasper counties. During this operation, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers inspected 428 commercial vehicles. They discovered 1,208 violations, placed 123 vehicles and 28 drivers out-of-service, and issued 262 citations.

"I appreciate the efforts of our officers. Citizens traveling through the state of Missouri benefitted from this enforcement operation by the removal of unsafe drivers and vehicles from our highways," stated Captain Villanueva.
