EMPHASIS: Bank Robbery In Savannah

On August 24, 2007, at 9:29 a.m., Troop H received a silent alarm from the Savannah branch of the Nodaway Valley Bank. Responding officers learned the bank received a telephone call from a person demanding money via a wire transfer or the bank would explode. Investigators also learned the same extortion scheme had occurred at several other banks in several states within a short period of time.
Investigators from the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Savannah Police Department, and the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department have made a positive identification of the perpetrator. He was in another country when he committed these crimes.
The Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms brought an explosive sniffing canine to the scene to make sure the building was safe. The investigation continues.
