EMPHASIS: Officer On A Train Enforcement Results

Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of a rail crossing enforcement program conducted in St. Joseph, on June 20, 2013. The program was conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, St. Joseph Police Department, Operation Lifesaver, and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. An officer rode on the train and watched for motorists who failed to stop for red signal lights and gates at rail crossings. Additional officers in patrol vehicles stopped the violators. A total of 16 summonses were issued as a result of the two-hour program. Officers also wrote seven summonses for other traffic violations.
Captain Duane Robinson stated, "One hundred percent of rail grade crossing crashes can be prevented if motorists will just obey the signals around these crossings."
