EMPHASIS: Results Of Enforcement Projects Conducted By Troop D Officers During The Month Of August


Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, announces the results of several enforcement projects conducted in the Troop D area during the month of August 2012.
During the month, DWI enforcement saturations were conducted in Vernon, Lawrence, and Jasper counties. On August 3, a hazardous moving saturation was conducted in Dallas County and on August 24, a DWI sobriety checkpoint was conducted in Taney County. In addition to these efforts, special enforcement projects, "Get Your Clicks On Route 66" and "Cruisin' Branson" were also administered. The goal of these traffic enforcement operations was to detect intoxicated drivers, hazardous moving, driving over the speed limit, and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of these operations, officers made 301 arrests and issued 401 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturations and checkpoints:

91-- Citations issued for exceeding the posted speed limit
5 -- Citations issued for careless and imprudent driving
85-- Citations issued for seat belt and child restraint violations
17-- Citations issued for a hazardous moving violation
35-- Citations issued for a non-moving violation
17-- Citations issued for license violations
14-- Citations issued for an insurance violation
1 -- Citation for a signal violation
1 -- Felony warrant arrest
3 -- Misdemeanor warrant arrests
12 --Drug arrests
6 -- Other felony arrests
2 -- Other misdemeanor arrests
4 -- Minor in possession arrests

Captain Villanueva stated, “Motorists traveling on Missouri’s roadways can expect that members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be striving to do all we can to rid our roads of unsafe drivers. Please help us by being the safest driver you can possibly be. Always pay attention to the task of driving, and please wear your seat belt at all times.”
