EMPHASIS: Troop G Releases Checkpoint Totals

Captain Mark G. Inman, commanding officer of Troop G, releases the following information:

A total of 11 citations and 18 warnings were issued in conjunction with a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Howell County on December 31, 2015. Also, there were two drug arrests. The checkpoint was conducted with local law enforcement at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Missouri Highway 17 in Mountain View, Missouri. Totals from this checkpoint include:

3 -- seat belt citations
3 -- no driver’s license citations
1 -- non-moving violation citation
1 -- uninsured motorist citation
2 -- commercial motor vehicle citations
1 -- minor in possession of intoxicating liquor citation
2 -- drug arrests

Captain Inman says, “The motoring public has been very supportive of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s efforts to make our roads safer through the use of sobriety checkpoints. Nobody wants to share the road with a drunk, drugged, or otherwise unsafe driver.”

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
