EMPHASIS: Memorial Bridge Ceremony Scheduled To Honor Fallen Trooper Gary W. Snodgrass

Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, announces the dedication of the “Trooper Gary Snodgrass Memorial Bridge.” The memorial bridge is located approximately seven miles east of Salem, MO, and near the original crash site. The ceremony will be held 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Troop I Headquarters in Rolla.

This memorial bridge recognizes Trooper Gary W. Snodgrass, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in a traffic crash on February 21, 1970. Trooper Snodgrass was the ninth member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol to make the ultimate sacrifice for the citizens of Missouri.

House Bill 2335 established the “Trooper Gary Snodgrass Memorial Bridge” on Missouri Highway 32, crossing the Meramec River in Dent County. The bill was signed by Governor Jay Nixon and becomes effective on August 28, 2016.
