Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of the Operation P.R.O.T.E.C.T. project that was conducted on Thursday, August 25, 2011, in St. Charles and Jefferson counties. During the eight-hour project 12 troopers focused their attention on violations that occurred within two construction/work zones.

As a result of the enforcement program, a total of 126 summonses and 64 warnings were issued. Of those summonses, 46 people were cited for exceeding the speed limit, 23 were cited for no seat belt, 8 were cited for other hazardous moving violations, 28 were cited for non-moving violations, 10 were cited for no insurance, and two people were cited for driving while revoked or suspended. In addition, five people were arrested for misdemeanor possession of drugs, and four subjects were arrested on outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

“I want to encourage everyone driving through work zones to obey the reduced speed limit and be attentive while driving,” said Captain Johnson.
