Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint in Clinton County. The checkpoint was held from 10 p.m. on June 21, 2014, to 2 a.m. on June 22, 2014. As a result of this operation officers issued nine citations, 10 warnings, made one felony drug arrest and one misdemeanor warrant arrest. The following is a list of enforcement contacts as a result of the checkpoint:

2--Driving while intoxicated arrests.
1--Citation for no insurance.
5--Citations for driving while suspended.
1--Citation for failure to wear seat belt.
1--Arrest for possession of a controlled substance.
1--Arrest for a misdemeanor warrant.

“Removing intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways is one of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s top priorities,” states Captain McDonald. “If you choose to drink and drive, you will be arrested and you will go to jail. If your plans include alcohol, always have a sober designated driver."

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
