EMPHASIS: Patrol Assists With Hermann Homicide Investigation/Subject Charged -- Troop F

On July 10, 2015 at approximately 4:15 pm, at the request of Hermann Police Chief Marlon Walker, members of the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, Troop F, began conducting an investigation into the death of Marion Gerloff, 64. On July 10, 2015, Gerloff was found dead inside of her home, in Hermann, Missouri. During the investigation, Gerloff's roommate, Karen Brinkley, 54, was identified as a suspect and taken into custody without incident.

Brinkley has been charged with murder in the second degree. Brinkley is being held at the Crawford County Jail. Bond has been set at $500,000 cash or surety bond.

Due to the ongoing investigation into this incident, the cause of death is not being released pending the results of an autopsy.

The above charges are mere accusations and are not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of these charges must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.
