EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Sobriety Checkpoint
Captain Randy L. Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, announces that troopers will be conducting two sobriety checkpoints in Pulaski County during the month of June. The checkpoints will be concentrated in areas and on particular highways where a larger number of alcohol-related traffic crashes have occurred.
Captain Becker urges all motorist passing through the checkpoints to use extreme caution by slowing down, keeping their eyes on the road and vehicles ahead for any sudden stopping, and to follow the directions of the officers. He would also like to remind each motorist to be prepared to present both their driver’s license and proof of insurance as they approach a checkpoint.
Captain Becker stated, “Too many people are seriously injured or killed on Missouri streets and highways every year by the drunk driver, and this is a method which has been successful in combating the drunk driving problem”.
