EMPHASIS: National Park Service Closes Portion Of Current River Due To High Water

The Missouri State Highway Patrol would like to inform the public of the following:

Recent heavy rains have forced the National Park Service to close a portion of the Current River in Shannon and Carter counties. According to Ozark National Scenic Riverways Chief Ranger Dennis Weiland, the Current River from Pulltite access to Gooseneck campground (just north of the Ripley County line) will be closed to all non-motorized vessels until water levels recede. For the most up-to-date information about river closures during flood conditions, please visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/ozar/ or call the park headquarters at 573-323-4236.

The only 100 percent survivable crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
