EMPHASIS: Troop F Seeking Students To Participate In Upcoming Student Alliance Program

Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, is pleased to announce Troop F will be conducting a two-day Student Alliance Program. The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity for current junior and senior high school students to learn more about law enforcement and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The 2016 Troop F Student Alliance Program will be conducted at the Patrol’s Safety Education Center in Jefferson City, Missouri, on two consecutive Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., beginning on April 2, 2016. Participants must provide their own transportation and will be on their own for a lunch break each day. During the program, students will participate in a variety of educational activities intended to familiarize them with Highway Patrol operations and equipment. Some of the activities will include: Patrol history, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, K-9 presentation, stop and approach, and crime scene investigation.

Troop F is seeking interested junior and senior high school students of good character to apply to participate in the program. In order to provide a quality educational experience, the program will be limited to 20 students. Applications can be obtained at the Troop F Headquarters, located at 2920 North Shamrock Road, Jefferson City, Missouri; or by calling Sergeant Scott White at (573) 751-1000. Applications must be received by February 25, 2016, to be eligible to participate.

Approximately 63 percent of Missouri fatal crash victims who are required to be restrained are NOT at the time of the traffic crash. The Patrol urges motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
