EMPHASIS: Results Of DWI Checkpoint In Franklin County



Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted from 10 p.m. on Friday, May 10, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013. The checkpoint was located at Missouri Route O and Missouri Route AT. The location was determined by past arrests, incidents, and traffic crashes in the county.

A total of 148 vehicles were stopped during this five-hour operation. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol made the following arrests:

Speed -- 2 summonses
No Driver's License -- 1 summons
Careless and Imprudent Driving -- 1 summons
Non-Moving Violations -- 2 summonses
Driving While Suspended/Revoked -- 3 summonses
No Insurance -- 4 summonses
Seat belt -- 1 summons
Driving While Intoxicated -- 4 arrests
Misdemeanor Drug Possession -- 7 arrests
Misdemeanor Criminal -- 1 arrest
Felony Drug Possession -- 1 arrest
Warnings -- 20

Captain Johnson stated, "The focus of law enforcement is to enforce all laws and apprehend violators. The goal of DWI enforcement projects is to deter impaired driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and driving will not be tolerated."

The Missouri State Highway Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
