EMPHASIS: Officer-Involved Shooting In Taney County

At approximately 2 a.m. on September 16, 2016, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Taney County Sheriff's Department went to a residence on Boo Boo Blvd., southwest of Hollister, MO, in Taney County. Officers located a vehicle that was suspected as being involved in a pursuit with the Branson Police Department on September 15, 2016. Upon arrival, a preliminary investigation revealed that officers made contact with a male and a female subject at the front door of the residence and attempted to question them regarding the previous incident. The male subject displayed a gun and failed to obey officer’s commands when he began discharging the weapon at the officers, leading to an exchange of gunfire. During the incident, the male subject, later identified as Thomas P. Mone III, 46, of Galena, MO, sustained a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The female subject and a Taney County deputy sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The trooper was uninjured.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control continues to investigate this incident.
