EMPHASIS: Announcement of Troop E Promotions

Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, is pleased to announce the promotions of two Troop E officers. The promotions will be effective September 1, 2014.

Corporal Grant N. Williams was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and designated the zone supervisor of Zone 13, Iron and Madison counties. Williams was appointed to the Patrol on October 20, 2002, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy was assigned to Troop E, Zone 7. In 2007, he transferred to Zone 4, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties. On January 1, 2013, he was promoted to corporal and designated the assistant zone supervisor of Zone 4. He is a native of Portageville, Missouri, and graduated from Portageville High School. Before being appointed to the Patrol, he attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and served as a Cape Girardeau County deputy sheriff. He has one child, Landon.

Trooper Michael T. (Todd) Turlington was promoted to corporal and designated assistant zone supervisor of Zone 4, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties. Turlington was appointed to the Patrol on January 1, 1996, and after graduating from the Patrol Academy was assigned to Troop E, Zone 5, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties. He is a native of Kennett, Missouri, and graduated from Kennett High School. Before being appointed to the Patrol, he attended Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He is married to Shelly (Cox) and they have two children: Katie and Ryan.

In support of 'The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths,' the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
