EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Marijuana Eradication Totals For 2009
Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer, Troop D, is proud to release 2009 marijuana eradication results. Troop D’s eradication team, in cooperation with local sheriffs throughout Southwest Missouri, have posted an impressive number of arrests and marijuana seizures.
Marijuana eradication efforts began on May 1, 2009, and concluded on September 30. Various methods were used to detect marijuana grows that led to several arrests. The eradication season netted 2,750 cultivated plants, 12 pounds of processed marijuana, nine guns, and 17 indoor growing operations. Fifty-nine people were arrested for producing marijuana resulting in 73 charges, two of those being federal.
Captain Villanueva reminds all citizens who suspect marijuana growth on their property or suspect someone of cultivating marijuana indoors to make an anonymous call to 1-800-BAD-WEED. All information resulting from these calls is collected and forwarded to the proper authorities for investigation.
