EMPHASIS: DWI Sobriety Checkpoints Scheduled For Clay County

Captain Vincent J. Ellis, commanding officer of Troop A in Lee’s Summit, announces two sobriety checkpoints will be held in Clay County, MO, sometime during the month of July. The checkpoints will be held in conjunction with the Smithville Police Department.
The checkpoints are part of the continuing effort by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies to remove intoxicated drivers from the highways. The checkpoint consists of officers stopping drivers at a set location and testing those who have been drinking.
Captain Ellis stated, “Removing intoxicated drivers is a high priority for the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Our goal is to make travel on Missouri highways safer for the motoring public. If you drink alcohol, please don’t drive.”
