EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Of DWI Spotcheck
A total of 32 arrests were made and 44 warnings issued as a result of a sobriety checkpoint held in Dent County, July 27, 2007. The spotcheck was conducted from 10:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. on Missouri Highway 19, just south of Missouri Highway 32. The arrest totals include four for driving while intoxicated and four for misdemeanor drug offenses. Traffic arrests during the spotcheck included eight citations for failure to wear a seat belt, one for failure to secure a child in a child safety restraint system, five for not having proper vehicle insurance, three for improper vehicle registration, and seven for driver’s license violations. Assisting the Highway Patrol at the spotcheck were Dent County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Salem Police Department. During the four-hour spotcheck officers checked 222 vehicles.
Captain Randy Becker, commanding officer of Troop I, would again like to encourage all motorists to be patient, courteous, and to obey all the rules of the road as they travel Missouri’s highways this summer.
