EMPHASIS: Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint Conducted In Marion County By Troop B Officers


Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted by Troop B officers during the month of July 2013.
On July 26, 2013, members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Marion County Sheriff's Department, and the Hannibal Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Missouri Route 79 and Route T, in Marion County. As a result of the checkpoint, which began at 11:00 p.m. on July 26, 2013, and concluded at 3:00 a.m. on July 27, 2013, officers checked 232 vehicles, made 13 arrests, issued 19 citations, and issued 12 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the checkpoint:

9-- Citations issued for a seat belt violations
1-- Citation issued for a non-moving violation
6-- Citations issued for license violations
3-- Citations issued for insurance violations
1-- Arrest for person under 21 years of age possessing intoxicating liquor
4-- Arrests for misdemeanor drug violations
7-- Arrests for misdemeanor warrants
1-- Arrest for a felony warrant

"The Missouri State Highway Patrol takes drinking and driving very seriously," stated Captain Wilt. "The Patrol will be holding other special enforcement operations throughout the year in an effort to make our highways safer. If drinking alcohol is part of your plans, choose a designated driver."
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
