EMPHASIS: Troop D Announces Results Of Sobriety Checkpoint And Enforcement Saturations


Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, announces the results of a sobriety checkpoint conducted in Greene County, a water enforcement saturation in Dallas and Laclede counties on the Niangua River, and a hazardous moving saturation in Taney County on June 14-15, 2014. The goal of these enforcement operations was to detect intoxicated drivers or boaters, hazardous moving violations, driving over the speed limit, and other violations that contribute to traffic/ boating crashes. Also, the enforcement locations were selected based on their high number of drinking and impairment-related traffic/boating crashes, in addition to reported behavioral problems, illegal drug usage, and underage alcohol consumption.

Troopers conducting the Greene County sobriety checkpoint stopped 345 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

DWI Arrest -- 3
Seat Belt Violations -- 8
Child Restraint Violation -- 1
Non-Moving Traffic Offenses -- 8
Driver’s License Violations -- 11
Uninsured Motorists Violations -- 11
Warnings -- 66

The following is a list of enforcement contacts made by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Department of Conservation during the saturation on the Niangua River:

Total Boating Citations -- 12
No Personal Flotation Device (under 7 years of age) Violations -- 2
Littering/Unsecure Trash Violations -- 4
Minor In Possession Violations -- 4
Possession Of Glass Container Violations -- 2






Troopers conducting the Taney County hazardous moving saturation stopped 48 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

Registration Violations -- 6
Non-Moving Offense -- 1
Driver's License Violation -- 1
Uninsured Motorist Violations -- 5

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.
