EMPHASIS: Traffic Stop On U. S. 71 Results in Drug Arrest
On July 24, 2007, at approximately 10:14 a.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol stopped a white GMC Sonoma on northbound U.S. 71 Highway north of 327th Street in Cass County for failing to drive within a single lane. Consent to search the vehicle was obtained and six bundles of a white powdery substance, believed to be cocaine, was located concealed inside the engine area of the vehicle.
The driver, Miguel Chavez, 40, of Fort Worth, Texas, was arrested for Drug Trafficking in the 1st Degree and transported to the Cass County Jail.
The charge for which Miguel Chavez was arrested is a mere accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Evidence in support of the charge must be presented before a court of competent jurisdiction whose duty it is to determine guilt or innocence.
