EMPHASIS: Troop E Announces Thanksgiving Holiday & 20-Mile Trooper Enforcement Totals


Captain George E. Ridens, commanding officer of Troop E, Poplar Bluff, announces the Thanksgiving holiday and 20-Mile Trooper enforcement totals for the Troop E area, which consists of 13 counties in Southeast Missouri. During the counting period, Troop E officers investigated 34 traffic crashes, which resulted in 11 injuries and zero fatalities. Troop E officers working on Interstate 55 participated in the 20-Mile Trooper project. Troopers assigned to this operation worked 12-hour shifts to patrol 20-mile intervals on major highways and interstates in Southeast Missouri on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, and Sunday, November 30, 2013. Totals from this operation include:

209 -- Speed Summonses
26 -- Seat Belt Summonses
5 -- Child Restraint Summonses
9 -- Driver’s License Summonses
6 -- Non-Moving Summonses
11 -- Uninsured Motorist Summonses
12 -- Hazardous Moving Summonses
6 -- Misdemeanor Drug Arrests
2-- Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests
269 -- Warnings
18 -- Driving While Intoxicated Arrests

Captain Ridens said, "We will continue to enforce traffic laws to help make our highways as safe as possible for all travelers. Please remember we need your help--pay attention, obey all traffic laws, make sure everyone is buckled up, and if you drink, don't drive."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
