Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop A investigated a total of 31 crashes. Alcohol was a contributing factor in seven crashes. A total of 17 injuries were reported in the 31 crashes.
A total of 415 arrests were made during the Fourth of July weekend. This total reflects the following tickets issued: 38 -- driving while intoxicated, 271 -- speeding, and 106 -- no seat belt. Members of the Highway Patrol also assisted 236 motorists during the counting period.
Captain Powell stated, “Our goal is to make travel on Missouri highways safer to the motoring public. Remember to obey the speed limit, always buckle your seat belt, pay attention to the job of driving, and if you are going to drink alcohol, please do not drive.”
