Troop I Prepares For Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic
Captain James W. Remillard, commanding officer of Troop I, Rolla, announces troopers will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E. during the 2016 Thanksgiving holiday weekend which will begin on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, and conclude on Sunday, November 27, 2016. Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) is a national traffic enforcement program aimed at making holiday weekends safer. During this enforcement operation, troopers will be assigned to patrol Missouri’s highways, not only aggressively enforcing traffic laws, but also to be available in the event motorists experience any type of emergency.
In addition to Operation C.A.R.E., Troop I troopers will conduct a holiday traffic crash reduction enforcement operation on portions of Interstate 44, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, and Sunday, November 27, 2016. During this operation, extra troopers will be assigned at 20-mile intervals of Interstate 44, in an effort to promote safety and reduce traffic crashes in the Troop I area.
“The Thanksgiving weekend is an opportunity for the citizens of our state and our many visitors to visit and get together. This also means there will be an increase in traffic upon our roadways,” said Captain Remillard. “Our goal is very simple: We want everyone to arrive at their destination safely. Please obey all traffic laws, pay attention to the job of driving, ensure that everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained, and if alcohol is part of your Thanksgiving plans, choose a designated driver.”
The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober.
“Don’t Violate The Trust.”
