EMPHASIS: Troop H Announces Thanksgiving Travel Operation

Captain Duane L. Robinson, commanding officer of Troop H, St. Joseph, announces that Troop H will participate in a project for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to promote driving safety. The 20-Mile Trooper enforcement operation is an initiative to reduce fatalities on interstates and designated highways in Missouri. The program dates are November 23, 2011, and November 27, 2011. The duration of each enforcement program will be 12 hours. The designated highways for the program in Troop H are Interstate 35, and U. S. Highways 36, 65, 71, and 169. The focus of the program is to maximize visibility to reduce traffic violations and ultimately traffic crashes.

Currently, Missouri is experiencing a seven percent reduction in traffic fatalities compared to the same time period last year. The Patrol is committed to continuing crash and fatality reduction through our education and enforcement efforts.

“We all want to visit relatives and friends this Thanksgiving. Our mission is to make the highways as safe as possible,” states Capt. Robinson. “Make sure everyone in your vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint.”
