EMPHASIS: Results Of Selective Traffic Enforcement Operation Conducted By Troop B Officers In Marion And Ralls Counties

Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of a Selected Traffic Enforcement Operation conducted in Marion and Ralls counties by Troop B officers.
From 10:00 p.m. on January 29, 2011, to 2:00 a.m. on January 30, 2011, three Troop B officers focused their attention to highways located in Marion and Ralls counties, with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other hazardous moving violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operation a total of six arrests were made and 36 warnings were issued. The following is a list of enforcement contacts during the operation:

2 -- arrests for driving while intoxicated
1 -- summons for speed
1 -- summons for a driver’s license violation
2 -- summonses for non-moving violations

“Driving while intoxicated continues to be a major contributing factor of traffic crashes in Missouri,” stated Captain Wilt. “Troop B officers will be conducting many similar enforcement operations during the upcoming year. If you plan on drinking intoxicating beverages always use a sober, designated driver.”
