EMPHASIS: Troop H Releases Results Of 20-Mile Trooper Project--Memorial Day


Captain James E. McDonald, commanding officer Troop H, St. Joseph, announces the results of the 20-Mile Trooper project over the Memorial Day weekend. The project encompassed two days designated as the peak travel days for the holiday period, May 23, 2014, and May 26, 2014. Interstate 29 was the roadway designated for this project and troopers were assigned a 20-mile stretch of the interstate from the Buchanan County line to the Iowa state line. As a result of the project officers issued 164 citations and 242 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during this project:

104--speed citations
1--careless and imprudent driving citation
19--seat belt citations
3--following too close citations
2--hazardous moving violation citations
4--non-moving violation citations
3--no driver’s license citations
1--driving while suspended citation
19--no insurance citations
7--drug arrests
1--misdemeanor warrant arrest

“Troopers were out in force over the Memorial Day weekend and their vigorous enforcement efforts along with increased visibility helped keep Missouri motorists traveling through Troop H safe,” stated Captain McDonald.

In support of "The Drive To ZERO Highway Deaths," the Patrol encourages motorists to protect themselves and their passengers by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Watercraft operators should ensure that everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life And Wear It!!
