EMPHASIS: Body Recovered From Missouri River Identified


On February 7, 2009, at approximately 3:05 p.m., deputies from the Saline County, Howard County and Chariton County sheriff's departments assisted in the recovery of a body from the Missouri River in Saline County near Glasgow. The Saline County Coroner’s Office identified the body as Lana C. Sandweiss, 56, of Liberty, Missouri.
On November 26, 2008, at approximately 7:12 p.m., a member of the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a report of a stranded motorist on Missouri 13 Highway around the Missouri River Bridge in Ray County. The trooper located a 2004 Chrysler registered to Lana C. Sandweiss on the Missouri River Bridge in the southbound lanes. The vehicle’s engine was still running and the driver could not be located. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control responded to the scene to conduct an investigation. The Missouri State Water Patrol responded to the scene to conduct a search on the Missouri River and was unable to locate anyone.
