EMPHASIS: Troop I Announces Results Special Enforcement Operation

Captain Lee Ann H. Kenley, commanding officer of Troop I, announces the results of a special enforcement operation that emphasized motor vehicle code compliance by the operator’s of commercial motor vehicles. This particular project utilized three troopers who patrolled Phelps County Highways on July 14, 2009.
The project, entitled MCSAP-SAFETE, resulted in the issuance of three citations for violations of commercial vehicle statutes and one summons being issued for a seat belt violation. During the four-hour operation troopers stopped 17 commercial motor vehicles and four other vehicles, which also resulted in 31 warnings being issued.
Captain Kenley noted that Troop I receives many complaints from motorists regarding the unsafe operation of large trucks on our highways. She stated, “Our troopers have many responsibilities, but detecting traffic and safety violations committed by the operator’s of the large commercial motor vehicles is always a priority.”
