EMPHASIS: Troop A To Participate In 10-Mile Trooper Project Over Thanksgiving Holiday Period
Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, announces that during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, Troop A officers will participate in a 10-Mile Trooper program on Interstate 70, from 12 p.m. to midnight on November 25, 2009, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on November 29, 2009. The goal of this operation is to positively impact travel problems throughout the area by reducing crashes on Interstate 70. This goal will be accomplished by having troopers assigned at 10-mile increments along Interstate 70 in the Troop A area strictly enforcing traffic laws and assisting motorists. As an added enforcement program, Troop A officers will participate in two separate hazardous moving enforcement projects in Henry County. The goal of this operation is to positively impact traffic problems throughout the area by reducing crashes on Missouri's highways.
"Our goal is to make traveling on Missouri's highways safer for everyone," stated Captain Powell. "Remember to do your part. Obey the speed limit, pay attention to the job of driving, always buckle your seat belt, and if you are going to drink, please do not drive."
