Captain James E. Wilt, commanding officer of Troop B, Macon, announces the results of DWI (driving while intoxicated) saturations conducted in Macon, Marion, and Ralls counties. The DWI saturation held in Marion and Ralls counties began at 11 p.m. on August 3, 2013, and concluded at 3 a.m. on August 4, 2013. The Macon County DWI saturation began at 11 p.m. on August 10, 2013, and concluded at 3 a.m. on August 11, 2013. During these enforcement operations, officers patrolled specific areas with a goal of detecting impaired drivers and other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes. As a result of the operations, officers made two arrests, and issued 11 citations and 18 warnings. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the saturation:

2-- Arrests for driving while intoxicated
2-- Citations issued for exceeding the speed limit
3-- Citations issued for seat belt violations
1-- Citation issued for a hazardous moving violation
5-- Citations issued for insurance violations

"The Patrol will conduct more traffic enforcement programs in the upcoming months," stated Captain Wilt. "The Missouri State Highway Patrol is very serious about removing the impaired driver from our roadways. If drinking is a part of your plans, choose a sober designated driver."
The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
