EMPHASIS: Troop C Prepares For Labor Day Weekend

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that Troop C officers, in an effort to promote safety and to reduce the number of crashes in the Troop C area, will be conducting two projects throughout the Labor Day holiday period. Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) will be conducted on Interstates 270, 70, 64, 55, and 44, and U.S. Highway 40/61. This effort will run the entire holiday counting period which starts at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 2, and will continue until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011.

In addition, on Friday, September 2, and Monday, September 5, 2011, Troop C will run the "20-Mile Trooper" project, which means Troop C will post a trooper every 20 miles on Interstates 70 and 44. The objective of the project is to place a trooper in close proximity of motorists who may need assistance and to aggressively enforce all traffic violations which may contribute to unsafe traveling conditions.

“This weekend will mark the end of the summer season and we will make every effort to keep the motoring public safe during their travels," said Captain Johnson. "If any motorist needs assistance while traveling, please contact the nearest Highway Patrol troop headquarters by calling the Patrol Emergency hotline at 1(800) 525-5555 or *55 on a cellular phone."
