EMPHASIS: Sobriety Checkpoint To Be Held In St. Louis County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in St. Louis County sometime in the month of December 2011. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with other area law enforcement agencies, will conduct the checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts and collisions.

Captain Johnson says, “Intoxicated drivers compromise the safety of themselves and of every person who travels the highways in St. Louis County. We will continue to do everything we can to remove these hazardous drivers from our highways.”

To report unsafe driving, motorists can use the Patrol’s emergency telephone numbers. They are 1-800-525-5555 or cellular *55.
