EMPHASIS: Patrol Announces Sobriety Checkpoint In Franklin County

Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer of Troop C, Weldon Spring, announces that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in Franklin County sometime in the month of May 2016. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies, will conduct the sobriety checkpoint.

Sobriety checkpoints are a part of the Patrol’s efforts to remove impaired drivers from Missouri’s highways, and are conducted at various locations which have been found to experience a higher than normal number of alcohol-related contacts.

Captain Johnson says, "Driving while intoxicated checkpoints are a great tool in removing the impaired driver from Missouri's highways. If you suspect a motorist of driving while impaired, call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at the toll-free emergency number 1-800-525-5555 or *55."

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
