EMPHASIS: 2013 Labor Day Holiday Totals For Troop A


Captain Robert L. Powell, commanding officer of Troop A, Lee's Summit, has announced the 2013 Labor Day holiday weekend crash, boating, and enforcement totals for Troop A. As a part of the holiday weekend, troopers participated in the 20-Mile Trooper enforcement project and Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort). The 20-Mile Trooper project was conducted on Interstates 70, 35, 29, 49, and 470, and U.S. Highway 50 on August 30, 2013, and September 2, 2013. Operation C.A.R.E. was conducted throughout the weekend to help ensure the safety of motorists.

During the counting period, troopers investigated 39 crashes, with 14 injuries. Troop A recorded no traffic-related fatalities during the holiday weekend. Troop A marine operation troopers investigated three boating crashes, with one injury. The following is a list of contacts from the holiday period:

Captain Powell stated, "Our goal is to make traveling on Missouri's highways safer for everyone. Remember to do your part. Obey the speed limit, pay attention to the job of driving, always buckle your seat belt, and if you are going to drink, please do not drive."

The Patrol encourages motorists and watercraft operators to protect themselves by making sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint and everyone in the vessel is wearing an approved life jacket. Click It 4 Life and Wear It!!!
