EMPHASIS: Results Of A Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Detail In Troop D

Captain Juan Villanueva, commanding officer of Troop D, Springfield, is pleased to announce the results of a recent MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement detail. The purpose of this effort was to reduce the number of commercial motor vehicle-related crashes, fatalities, and injuries through aggressive enforcement, education, and safety inspections.

This enforcement program was conducted during the week of September 12, 2011, and primarily focused on the high-crash counties in Troop D including: Greene, Lawrence, Newton, and Jasper counties. During the three-day operation, commercial vehicle enforcement troopers and commercial vehicle officers from eight different troops inspected 381 commercial vehicles. They discovered 1,200 violations, placed 113 vehicles and 24 drivers out-of-service, and issued 210 citations.

"I appreciate the efforts of our officers. Citizens traveling through the state of Missouri benefitted from this enforcement operation by the removal of unsafe drivers and vehicles from our highways," stated Captain Villanueva.
