Captain Ronald S. Johnson, commanding officer Troop C, Weldon Spring, is pleased to announce the results of a recent enforcement detail Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. (Alcohol Related Response Enforcement Strike Team). The purpose of Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. is to increase the motoring public’s awareness of the hazards of operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.

Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. was conducted from 7 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2012, to 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2012, in St. Charles County. This eight-hour project was conducted by six officers, who focused their enforcement efforts on identifying hazardous motor vehicle operations. During the operation, a total of 35 arrests were made and nine warnings issued. The 35 arrests included:

4 -- driving while intoxicated arrests
13 -- following too close arrests
4 -- no seat belt citations
4 -- speed citations
1 -- stop sign violation
2 -- non-moving violations
6 -- misdemeanor drug charges
1 -- outstanding felony warrant

Captain Johnson stated, “Driving while intoxicated continues to be responsible for more than 25 percent of all fatal crashes on Missouri highways. Operation A.R.R.E.S.T. will assist in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers, traffic crashes, and fatalities that occur on our roadways.”
